10th President’s Trophy

On September 3, the President’s Trophy celebrated its tenth anniversary. As on previous occasions, members, friends and collaborators participated in a championship whose trophy, the Silver Galleon SANTA MARIA, is becoming year after year, a famed prize. All players were treated to a formidable buffet breakfast served in our restaurant H19, as well as a gift bag and a small individual picnic to take to the course. The day was exceptional and the atmosphere was truly festive.

At 8 pm all participants in the tournament, with their spouses were invited to the gala dinner held at the club. Our restaurant H19 welcomed our guests with individual appetizers and then we all moved to the setting of the terrace and gardens.

There, Mr. Abdulla Saudi, President of SANTA MARIA, addressed all participants welcoming them and thanking them for their presence in what is an important day for SANTA MARIA. In his words, an emotional remembrance for his friend and partner, Mr. Mohamed Nga, who passed away earlier this year. The President also made mention of the upcoming celebration of the 25th anniversary of SANTA MARIA, which will start later this October.
Upon finishing his speech he gave way to the championship awards ceremony, which had the following winners;

Men’s Category 1 1^st – John Lewis, 34 pts

Men’s Category 1 2^nd – Daniel Porter, 33 pts

Men’s Category 2 1^st – Estenban Rodriguez Sevillana, 39 pts

Men’s Category 2 2^nd – Graham Blackburn, 38 pts

Ladies Category 1^st – Cora Hofstede, 36 pts

Ladies Category 2^nd – Sheila Spence, 36 pts
